Doran Horsley

Sales Manager

Doran Horsley serves as the General Manager of Paradigm Lumber, bringing with him a wealth of experience that makes him an excellent fit for the role. He began his career in construction as a draftsman and estimator, later advancing to a superintendent position. From there, Doran transitioned into outside lumber sales and lumber wholesaling.

Today, he leads Paradigm Lumber with a focus on strong customer relationships, actively seeking new partnerships while continuing to serve our clients with pride and dedication.

In his free time, Doran enjoys fishing, hunting, relaxing at the lake, and spending quality time with his wife and two daughters.

Shawn Boyer

Outside Sales/Contractor Sales

Shawn began his career in the construction industry at the age of 22, working for a general contractor that handled every phase of a project—from concrete to finish carpentry. In the early 2000s, he launched his own framing company, which he successfully operated for over 20 years.

In his free time, Shawn enjoys spending time with his kids, riding his Indian motorcycle, and pursuing his passion for hunting and fishing.

Mike Uithoven

Architectural Drafter/Estimator

Paradigm Lumber is proud to introduce Mike Uithoven, who brings over 30 years of experience in the construction industry. His expertise includes drafting, design, project management, estimating, and material takeoffs.

Mike plays a key role on our team, leading efforts in material takeoffs, plan design, and estimating. His attention to detail ensures your project is well-planned and fully supplied.

Dave Carlson

Outside Sales/Contractor Sales

Dave Carlson began his career in the construction industry as a superintendent in 2014, overseeing several large apartment projects over the course of nearly nine years. These projects ranged in size from 8-unit buildings to developments with over 100 units.

Dave later transitioned into contractor sales, driven by a passion for customer service and a commitment to ensuring every project is fully and accurately supplied. His dedication helps keep projects running smoothly from start to finish.

In his free time, Dave enjoys boating and spending weekends at the lake with family and friends.

Matt Kranz

Outside Sales/Contractor Sales

Matt began his career in the building materials industry in 2001 as the owner of a siding company. After 14 years decided to sell the business. He has spent the last 10 years in different roles at lumber yards, outside sales, back counter sales, working in the yard, inventory, and estimating. 

In his spare time, Matt enjoys golfing and other outdoor activities.

Steve Morehead

Job Position

Steve grew up in Hawarden, IA. After serving in the US Navy, he moved to Sioux Falls in 1999 and has been amazed at how much this city has grown since then. He has had various roles in the fuel and lumber industries, including dispatching, delivering, and providing great customer service.

When he’s not assisting customers at our yard or delivering to jobs, you’ll find him spending time with his family or walking his Great Danes and enjoying the outdoors.

Samantha Akers

Architectural Drafter

Samantha moved to Sioux Falls over eight years ago after earning her associate’s degree in architectural engineering. Her favorite part of the job is that no two floor plans are exactly alike—giving her the opportunity to create the best possible layout for both functionality and style.

She enjoys working closely with contractors and homeowners to ensure a smooth and enjoyable design process.

Outside of work, Samantha loves spending time with her husband, Hunter, their daughter, and their two puppies.

Mercedes Hebert

Office Assistant

Mercedes joined Paradigm Lumber in January 2025 as an office assistant. She grew up in Beresford and attended Southeast Technical College, where she earned an associate’s degree in Accounting.

In her free time, Mercedes enjoys fishing and spending time with her dogs, Cash and Jolene.

She is a great asset to our team here at Paradigm, and we’re lucky to have her.
